Future Job and Expected Writing
When I graduate from College my goal is to move back out to California to be a security officer at the San Onofre Neuclear Power plant. The writing I expect to be doing is most likely formal Emails that I would send to my superiors. I also expect to have to write my application and fill out a resume. There will be other times I'll have to write, and thats when I see something on site that I believe is hazardous. I will have to notify my superiors again in this instance. For all of these situations I think it is important for me to learn how to write a formal Email so I dont seem uneducated. And it is important that I improve my writing skills so that when I fill out my resume and application I can make a good impression on those trying to hire me. I expect that by improving my writing skills I can also improve my speaking skills and broaden my vocabulary. This is important because when I have to sit infront of my future employer at an interview, I can put off the image that I am infact educated and right for the job.

In the field of Accounting, Accountant are required to do several different types of writings. Some of the possibilities include internal memos to bosses, supervisors, colleagues, or any other part of their company to relay information concerning their job. Another option is a variety of letters to clients, other companies, or some agencies. Finally, financial statements, company wide memos, and technical reports are also very important for accountants.
To get into more detail on each type of writing we will start with emails and memos. Theses are usually within ones own company and a lot of times are an important piece to allow everyone to have the correct information.
Next, are the letters. Often times, these letters are sent to other companies and fellow professionals in their respective field. Most important aspect of letters is that they are coherent, clear, and precise in detail.
Finally, the last I will discuss is reports. Reports can vary in length, but are very important at any measure. These must be very detailed and precise as a mistake here could be critical. Another thing to look out for is the neatness and coherency of the report.
I think these sorts of writings relate well as we are always focusing on precise and clear papers starting with the simplest form of a good sentence structure. As students, we write emails very often and need to work on communication with others at every level. So I feel pretty prepared for what may come at that level.
One thing I feel would help is a business writing class that may help with the letters and memos aspect of accountants writing. Having those two skills is also very key and should be worked on now rather than later.

Career writing
Currently my career of choice is to be a lawyer/attorney.They type of writing I would be involved with in this field would be typing up case reports, research papers, to help find evidence to help my clients and more of a note taking style to help me work and listen to the client plead its case. I do not want to be a defense lawyer so a lot of my work will be done in my office and be about family affairs or insurance reasons. My job will not only need me to be good at a research based writing styles but editing as well. With my job you must find flaws in contracts and look over liabilty issues within contracts as well. The aspect of editing papers will help me look at the fine print of these documents. A way I can get better at research papers is just repetition. This class so far has been good practice and I cannot wait to see where my future takes me.

Career Writing
At the moment, I’m majoring in Biomedical Engineering. To be
honest, from my experience, most people don’t really know what types of writing
that Biomedical Engineers (or really any type of engineers) do. From my basic
research and experience, a lot of effort goes towards presentations and
reports. Engineers have to be good at presenting their ideas and their work in
order, generally in order to receive more funding to move their given project
forward. When the project is all said and done, a report is written up in order
to comprehensively represent their work and their data in a manner that another
engineer (with a similar expertise) would be able to replicate the project
exactly as it was done and progressed through originally. Many engineers also
choose to write into their respective journals in an effort to bolster their
credibility in their field, which results in a better salary bargaining
position.

Find out and discuss what kind of writing people in your field of study do, and write 150+ words about it.
I think the writings expected in hospitality industry would be very business professional, which would be less similar to scholar papers and essays. This kind of writing needs people's writings to be very straightforward, short and clarified, because time is money in my industry, no one want to read very long writings. However, those business proposals will be a different case. those business proposals should have affluent proofs on why it can success and how it can be worked. In my opinion, if I want to write properly in my industry in the future, I may want to learn how to write business writings and those frequently appeared business writing words. But I still think even though business writings maybe different from school papers, those format, transitions and requirement would be similar. because both of them need their paper to be clearly written and not redundant. I can use those format or transitions learnt in my school to help me to write my business writings well. Wether people can easily get to your point can be a way to judge how is your writing. For example, you wrote a memo to your manager, if he cannot understand or get all you want he to know shows that your writing is bad and meaningless.

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of a veterinarian hospital is definitely not writing. Many people would be surprised by how much writing is actually done in the hospitals. One very important thing that some people may guess would be research. Every hospital has their own types or research about any given animal. This research involves all kinds of explanation that comes in the form a research paper. As an English student I have been given a lot of practice in writing research papers, but I have not been given the practice of research myself. I hope to be able to become a part of a research project to learn more about how exactly this writing is done. This type of writing is very important simply because research is important itself. Without research we would be nowhere near where we are right now in the field of veterinary medicine.
Another interesting thing that I didn’t think about in writing in veterinarian hospitals would be a newsletter. It may seem silly to think of this as a form of important writing, but this writing would be very beneficial in many ways. First, a newsletter may keep the pet owners up to date on what the hospital has accomplished in the past as well as the present. It is important to inform pet owners of the hospital’s success so they may begin to trust the veterinarians that will very possibly be treating their pets. Another important thing that a newsletter can do is to set the hospital apart from competing hospitals. If a pet owner were to choose between two hospitals to work on their animal, it makes more sense that they would choose the one they have heard about. Veterinarian hospitals may seem like a place where writing isn’t important, but without it some hospitals may become very lacking in their ability to operate.

Academic Writing Leading Towards a Profession
In my field of study people write and talk about certain events or ideas. In the future my profession may involve the writing of books, blogs, magazines or any type of writing that involves communication. The profession I think I would like to do in the future is be an analyst for some sort of sport station whether it be a talk show host for ESPN or an analyst for college basketball. The people in this profession do a lot of blog writing, which include their opinion and analyst about a certain subject. In this if I were an author of a blog or story about NCAA basketball, my main idea of the writing would be about how I believe certain players or plays impacted the games this weekend. I do not real think there is a challenge to the writing portion but the challenge is getting your name as an author out to the public so people can read the author’s writing. I have done this type of writing a lot in high school and in this class due to the amount to the analyst papers I have done in these classes. These papers will prepare me for the profession I think I am going to do in the future
Athletic Training Writing
Athletic trainers write mainly letters and memos. Because athletic trainers are responsible for the health and safety of athletes, they must be able to communicate effectively to coaches and specialists in their writing. For example, if the athletic trainer believes that a player is too injured to practice/play, the trainer might have to communicate that to the coach in writing. The trainer must be able to communicate clearly his diagnosis and what he believes that the player can or cannot do. In his writing, the trainer must also be able to describe terms and anatomy medically so that specialists know what he is talking about, but also in common language so that coaches and players can understand. Challenges of writing in the athletic training profession include writing clearly and precisely while under stressful conditions. Being able to communicate effectively could mean the difference between a few days or a few weeks of rehab for a player. I have had to write both clearly and precisely throughout by academic career, and this should prepare me for writing as an athletic trainer.
In my field of study which is geology, most of the writing one is research based. Much of the writing comes from data in the field study. As a geologist you go out into the field and record data on rocks, water contamination or even volcanic activity. The challenge about this writing style is that it must include relevant information that correlates with your data. There is no opinion in your writing and must all be factual information. It is similar to some papers I have written such as research papers. All the material is based on fact rather than opinion. What is bad about this style of writing is that it allows very little freedom or flexibility in the writing. It is composed on a very ridged scale that includes data from the field and an accurate analysis of the data retrieved. The good thing about this writing is that you know that what you reading is the truth. Ther is no false information and it is all relevant.
My intended field of post graduate studies involves medical school and more specifically, the sports sciences. The academic writings that I'm required to complete in my Movement and Sports sciences major will ideally prepare me for the types of writings I will be asked to do in medical school. This being lab reports, research reports, extended essays. Personally, a challenge of this type of writing is maintaining interest in the writing that I'm intending on submitting. When there is a lack of abstract or interesting subjects to write on, then there is a potential for myself as the author to be bored of what I'm writing about.
As a physician, the demand for extensive writing decreases exponentially. Writing mostly consists of prescription write-ups for patients, examination notes, etc. From medical school and on the writing essentially becomes factually based. This meaning, there is no creative or free writing. This short hand writing is something that anyone could get used to. But it's important that as an established physician, that individual is still capable at any time to produce high standard writing.

Business Writing
At the moment I'm curretly persuing to become an Industrial Management Major with minors in Engineering and finance, in addition im thinking of becoming a business lawyer and go to law school after I receive my bachelors degree. These degrees both have a a variety of types of writing and one is more technical and the other isnt't is much. Business majors tend to write more technical and write resumes, cover pages, financial sheets, and many other types of financial documents. Training is needed for these particular pieces of writing and can be learned in a technical business writing class and involves a lot of numbers and details for each specific document. For instance, if I were to become a financial consultant I would be writing a lot of budget sheets and working with numbers, in addition I would be writing professional emails to clients and other empleyees that I work within a company. Even thought technical writing might seem easy because people believe its more straight forward and doen't need more thought, it can become difficult to write these peices of writing because each company wants something different in how the document is set up and how its presented. Despite these challenges, this type of writing can take less time compared to what academic writing requires and isn't as long in length compared to most other professions in the job market.
Secondary Education Writing
My major is secondary education-social studies, and I hope to become a high school history teacher someday. For this major there are several different types of writing that may be done after college. The main writing that I can conceive being done on a daily basis is writing test, essay and assignment questions for my students. Another item teachers have to write often is lesson plans. Every class period has a different objective and lesson that teachers have to have written out to keep class organized. This type of writing will not be particularly complicated, but it will require being accurate with spelling and grammar. Writing essay questions and lesson plans is not something that I have done before, but my education courses here at Purdue will help me format those questions and plans. Once I am out of college I think this type of writing will be easy for me to accomplish because I have taken many English and writing courses before that have given me plenty of tools and tips to being a successful writer.
All my writing: where it leads ---
I can find pleasure in a fair amount of writing. I've attempted technical, journalistic, editorial, business-related,
and other methods. Really, research and biographical seem best suited to my future aspirations. Here's a list of formats I have tried.
Yet, as it may work out, I have only minimal talent to produce something that can catch the eye
of others. And that is ultimately the object: to achieve the eye-worthiness of a fellow human.
Else, it is so much doing for little pay off. I suppose too it can be therapeutic to do if you understand
that is its purpose. Or maybe to just document the passage of one's life. Again, self-serving in the
moment, but a reflective tool to be used for correcting your mistakes, if you review it thus.
Jobs come from talent cultivated. It takes a fair amount of talent coupled with luck to achieve
a duty to record events in prose or poetry. One can alone; but at some point, again, it is like a log
falling in the forest - if no one reads, did you really write it? (Mixing that metaphor is a no-no.)
Overall, I do feel I write some insightful stuff. As these examples, I hope, will point too:
Theo Heads to the Cubs
Hey! Hey! Hey! or Ho! Ho! Ho!: Albert Pujols ' Christmas Gift, $254 Million Rockin' Dollars
The China Bubble: A Burst Coming Near You in 2012
Short Story:
Not Always (Part VI and VII)
Not Always (Part IV and V)
Not Always (Part I thru III)
I have no druthers about which genre I write in long term. Some I do better than others, but critiquing one's work is a pretty hard task. And others can do that, but likely cannot help one craft the perfect American Novel, or create the perfect journalistic career. They too are just...hacks.
That's my two cents.

Public relations
Right now I am currently pursuing public relations major but I am really undecided so I kind of don’t know yet but I will by the time summer break is over. But some things public relations would write about are like sports articles and newspaper writings and basically are involved with all types of things about the environment. In this particle major you have to do a lot of writing and interacting with all different types of people may it be interviews or whatever the case may be. The classes are fun and have helped me a lot you have to be involved to make it through high level classes in public relations and even though I may end up changing my major next year public relations has been very fun for me and has taught me a lot just being in different classes and the experience.
Life as a surgeon, sort of.
Surgeons typically sign their name
fifty to one hundred times per day. Other than that they typically write in
charts, a sort of medical record, fill out prescriptions, and publish case
reports on unusual or difficult patients. Along with this of course there is an
element of professional, long term writing such as text books, dissertations
and medical journals, but mainly the day to day life of a surgeon is lots of
fast paced and on your feet writing of a technical nature.
Challenges
of this type of writing is obviously getting to the point, and being able to do
so in a quick and decisive manner. One cannot get bogged down with fancy
wording, as it will take far too long, but at the same time, attention to
detail is key. If mistakes are made accidents happen, and that is not an option
to a doctor. In addition, many people in the medical profession are serious
critics, and one mistaken semi-colon could be the joke of some obnoxious person
for all eternity.
Preparation
or training to write such technical documents is obviously attaining the
medical knowledge to make educated decisions. Practicing writing
one-paragraph-papers helps coach doctors to be concise and to be honest medical
school teaches the ability to quickly get stuff done or students drown in the workload.
The entire path up to becoming a surgeon trains the doctor to think and write
critically, and do so quickly and report the information accurately.
Personally,
I have had little training in this type of writing up to this point. I’ve never
had a semester at Purdue with fewer than 2 bio/chem/synthesis labs, and typically we
write two reports per week per lab, not counting research. Although, in medical
school I assume I will be tested on a daily basis as the workload and pace will
pick up quickly. I think I have an advantage over other ’17 med school students
because of my intense workload, and experience with technical writing, but I’m
still worried about my ability to write the longer and more in detail essays
and dissertations.
With
works of these sorts, the devil is in the details. An essay can be flawless in
grammar ect, but receive failing marks because it simply doesn’t cover
everything needed. Every report written
must be incredibly detailed, and be able to be read in a few minutes, and tell the
entire story to a party that, while educated, probably doesn’t have personal
experience with the specific matter. A good report is all of these things and
also draws conclusions where appropriate, and allows reader inference in
others. Sounds fun eh?
Field of Study Writing
In a marketing and advertising profession, what we write and how we write something is very important. Whether it’s just memos that are sent around the office or presenting future advertisements to the company or a future employer writing is very important. One goal of an advertiser would be to come up with catchy slogans or a phrase that makes sense to the audience. Publishing social media is also important in marketing and advertising. When writing any type of social media it is important that you make a good name for your company. Since the employer/audience will be reading whatever type of social media or advertisement, it is important to write well as well as catch their attention with the short time you may have before they click to another page or walk away to do something else. I believe I will be capable of these writing techniques and be able to excel in the profession of marking and advertising.
Field of Study Writing
In the profession of athletic training there are many types of writing that can be done. One type of writing is proving an injury of your athlete. You may need to write up the athlete’s symptoms, the injury she or he may have, and the side effects of this injury. Another type of writing that can be done in the professional field of athletic training is describing the injury the athlete may have to a doctor or the athlete’s coach. The last type of writing that can be done in athletic training is taking notes on the progress of the injury on the athlete and record keeping. This is an important role in the profession so you can keep track of your athlete and be clear and precise if anyone would need to look at the notes to help the athlete and injury. Although athletic training is not a writing based profession, writing is still needed to do your job well.
