Yet, as it may work out, I have only minimal talent to produce something that can catch the eye
of others. And that is ultimately the object: to achieve the eye-worthiness of a fellow human.
Else, it is so much doing for little pay off. I suppose too it can be therapeutic to do if you understand
that is its purpose. Or maybe to just document the passage of one's life. Again, self-serving in the
moment, but a reflective tool to be used for correcting your mistakes, if you review it thus.
Jobs come from talent cultivated. It takes a fair amount of talent coupled with luck to achieve
a duty to record events in prose or poetry. One can alone; but at some point, again, it is like a log
falling in the forest - if no one reads, did you really write it? (Mixing that metaphor is a no-no.)
Overall, I do feel I write some insightful stuff. As these examples, I hope, will point too:
Theo Heads to the Cubs
Hey! Hey! Hey! or Ho! Ho! Ho!: Albert Pujols ' Christmas Gift, $254 Million Rockin' Dollars
The China Bubble: A Burst Coming Near You in 2012
Short Story:
Not Always (Part VI and VII)
Not Always (Part IV and V)
Not Always (Part I thru III)
I have no druthers about which genre I write in long term. Some I do better than others, but critiquing one's work is a pretty hard task. And others can do that, but likely cannot help one craft the perfect American Novel, or create the perfect journalistic career. They too are just...hacks.
That's my two cents.
