In the field of Accounting, Accountant are required to do several different types of writings. Some of the possibilities include internal memos to bosses, supervisors, colleagues, or any other part of their company to relay information concerning their job. Another option is a variety of letters to clients, other companies, or some agencies. Finally, financial statements, company wide memos, and technical reports are also very important for accountants.
To get into more detail on each type of writing we will start with emails and memos. Theses are usually within ones own company and a lot of times are an important piece to allow everyone to have the correct information.
Next, are the letters. Often times, these letters are sent to other companies and fellow professionals in their respective field. Most important aspect of letters is that they are coherent, clear, and precise in detail.
Finally, the last I will discuss is reports. Reports can vary in length, but are very important at any measure. These must be very detailed and precise as a mistake here could be critical. Another thing to look out for is the neatness and coherency of the report.
I think these sorts of writings relate well as we are always focusing on precise and clear papers starting with the simplest form of a good sentence structure. As students, we write emails very often and need to work on communication with others at every level. So I feel pretty prepared for what may come at that level.
One thing I feel would help is a business writing class that may help with the letters and memos aspect of accountants writing. Having those two skills is also very key and should be worked on now rather than later.
