1/23 Post

1. (page 66; 1st paragraph)
Still, writers have problems with showing that they are indifferent just as much as they have problems with showing that they disagree or agree with something. Some worry that by not picking a position, people will see them as being indecisive or really uncertain and will end up confusing readers who would need exact conclusions.

2a. The text that I chose was "Of Youth and Age" by Francis Bacon.
What makes this piece sound different than the others was the metaphorical language that centered around an elaborate analysis of youth and old age. This in addition to the historical time period of which it was originally written, separates the style from the other texts as the vernacular was significantly different in the early 1600s.

2b.
"Of Soccer and School"
A student, who taketh knowledge and soccer seriously, can open many a possibilties. But only by grasping the opportunities can the student make thine possibility a reality. To many, soccer can represent recreational past time. To few, soccer is a passage to higher education. Dwelling in the inbetween bringeth about uncertainty and indecision. But to those who haveth thine mind set, can enjoy the nourishment of a perfect balance of soccer and school.
